Big-collared comedian Harry Hill has been tickling the nation’s ribs with his witty asides about our beloved soaps for ages.Now, his own creation, called Soapington Way, is heading our way.
Set in the fictional town of Waffingham, Hill heads the cast as landlord Arthur Buttons.
The rest of the regulars are made up of some very famous faces indeed.
Darren Day plays a cheating husband, while Just Good Friends actress Jan Francis is Arthur’s wife.
Fast Show and Cold Feet star John Thomson will play the owner of a key-cutting booth, and Paul Usher - aka DC Des Taviner from The Bill - experiences life on the other side of the law as a villain.
Other stars include Liza Tarbuck, Mark Benton, Tim Key, Greg Davies, Kate Robbins, Josie D’Arby, Karen Taylor and Carli Norris.
Among the top scriptwriters who have contributed are Dan Maier, David Quantick, Brenda Gilhooly, Paul Hawksbee and Andrew Collins.
The soap is set to air in 2008.
